Holiday Gift Giving Made Easy: Rubbermaid Bathroom Cleaning Tools

City Mom's Holiday Gift Giving Made Easy

The holiday season means parties and parties mean having guests over and when you have guests over you can’t have dirty bathrooms! So essentially the holiday season means cleaning your bathroom and not just any old clean; a white glove standard clean.

Now you’re all stressed out right? Well don’t be because I have a really good solution for you and that is the Rubbermaid Bathroom Cleaning Tools.

For me the opportunity to test all the Rubbermaid Bathroom Cleaning Tools came at the perfect time! In an effort to cut costs, we recently cancelled our bi-weekly house cleaning, which means we are now in charge of cleaning ourselves.

Now I don’t at all intend to say that our cleaner didn’t do a good job, she just didn’t have the right tools and over time our shower started to grow different colours of mould and mildew in the corners and in the tile grout. Because we weren’t in the habit of cleaning and didn’t even own cleaning tools we kind of just avoided it.

Well, the other night I cleaned the bathroom and not only does it look clean, it looks sparkling-clean and it’s in large part thanks to the Rubbermaid Bathroom Cleaning Tools. In fact, my husband had decided we needed to re-grout in order to fix the issue. He was super impressed and has even put his putty knife away!

So enough about me…let’s look at each tool and how it’s used:

  1. Flexible Scrub Brush (perhaps my favourite)

  3. Switchable Bristle Brush Pad
    • Each pad (there are four types) fits three different Rubbermaid scrubbers
    • For most common cleaning needs
    • Scouring Pad: Perfect for all-surface scrubbing
    • Sponge: The all-surface cleaning/wiping pad
    • Bristle Brush: Great for heavy-duty scrubbing
    • Disposable Pad: Sold in packs of six and a must-have for messy, “clean and toss” jobs
    • Available at The Home Depot and Home Hardware
    • SRP $4.99

I loved using the Extendable scrubber because we have a floor to ceiling glass wall in our shower and I just can reach up nine feet. This tool allowed me to scrub right to the top. That’s something no one has done since we moved in here three years ago. Yikes!

I also loved the way the different pads attached to the tools. They attach with a super strong Velcro-type adhesive so there was no fidgeting with clasps etc. to switch the scrubbers.

I filled the Spraying Scrubber with water and used it to scrub away toothpaste and dust on the counter top. And speaking of water, it took nothing more than some vinegar and water to get my shower clean. That speaks volumes about the power of these tools. And it’s healthier for my family than harsh bleach and chemical filled cleaners. And might as well throw ‘better for the environment’ in there too!

Back to School In Style – Wee Squeak Style {Giveaway}

Wee Squeak Canada

What’s your favourite back-to-school item to shop for? For me it was always shoes. There’s something about putting on a brand new pair of shoes and heading off for the first day of school that just felt good.

This feeling hasn’t changed and now I can pass the tradition of a new pair of school shoes to little S. Thanks to Wee Squeak that’s exactly what I did.

Little S and I picked out a pair of adorable Wee Squeak shoes for her first day. There are so many to choose from but we finally narrowed it down to a pair of the Hot Pink Peony Maryjanes.

 Wee Squeak Canada

The Wee Squeak shoes are high-quality, comfortable and stylish shoes for kids, but they have something extra. They make a ‘squeak’ sound with each step your child takes. They’re quite cute and entertaining. The kids love them for sure and if you’re a parent wondering if that ‘squeak’ can get a little annoying, rest assured, there’s a solution for that.

Each pair of Wee Squeak shoes comes with a set of plugs that you can swap with the squeaker. This allows you to turn the squeak off. The plugs are really easy to pop out and pop back in and are on the outside of the shoe. The option for squeaks some days and not others is really easy.

I really love the stylish look of the Wee Squeak shoes and I’m in love with the Fall 2011 Collection. My favourites are the Cross Strap Boot for girls and the Two Tones for boys.

Wee Squeak Canada

The girls boots (and other shoes) come with one set of Chinese Roses to clip on, but you can also buy other flower styles and colours to change-up the look. Now that’s fashion!

Wee Squeak Canada

Wee Squeak shoes can be purchased online at Wee Squeak Canada or at one of over 700 retailers worldwide. Visit the Store Locator section on the Wee Squeak website to search for a store near you.

Today on City Mom, one lucky reader will win a pair of shoes or boots from Wee Squeak. For this giveaway I will be trying out Rafflecopter for the first time, so things may look a little different.

 Good luck!

Sonicare FlexCare+ – Making the Switch {Giveaway}

My toothbrush has a UV Brush Sanitizer that kills up to 99% of bacteria and viruses! Does yours? I’m assuming no, so read on for your chance to win one.

That’s not all my Philips Sonicare FelxCare+ does. It seems to have technology more advanced than my iPod, yet it’s so user-friendly. Here are some highlights of this magic-mouth-wand that I particularly appreciate.

  • There are five setting that can be used for various purposes:
    • Clean: a two-minute timed setting for a complete teeth clean. Quadpacer intervals of 30 seconds each to ensure each quadrant (upper outside and inside, lower outside and inside) gets the proper amount of brushing. What’s even cooler is that the brush is set to vibrate a little lighter on the first 14 uses so your gums can adjust.
    • Gum Care: effectively reaches between the teeth and along the gumline
    • Refresh: a one-minute timed setting to freshen up between full brush routines
    • Sensitive: a softer mode for those with sensitive teeth and gums
    • Massage: a gentle setting to effectively massage the gums. It improves gum-health in two weeks
  • Battery power that lasts three weeks; that’s 42 full two-minute brushes
  • Up to 31,000 brush strokes per minute
  • Angled brush head that makes it easier to reach the back teeth and removes plaque in the usually hard to reach places

I’ve been using the Soincare FlexCare+ for just over a week now and here are the benefits I’ve noticed:

First, I received my toothbrush from Mom Central and Philips the day after my most recent dentist appointment.

I had a clean bill of teeth-health from the dentist, however I was told that I need to concentrate on my right-inside-bottom teeth more when brushing. It’s the spot (if you’re right handed) that is the most difficult to get with a manual brush. You need to twist your wrist just so and if you don’t get it right, you neglect an entire row of teeth.

Apparently I wasn’t getting the twist action down but since I received the recommendation and the FlexCare+ it’s become so easy for me to reach that spot. All my teeth have that ‘just-left-the-dentist-clean’ feeling . I also have a really good sense of clean by using the UV sanitizer. It’s so easy to use. It’s a part of the charger and base. You pop the brush head off, place it on the provided drip tray, close the door and press a button. Cleaning only take 10 minutes, so next time you’re ready to brush it’s complete. Peace of mind!

I am so happy I decided to Make the Switch with Sonicare. I’m going to be watching to see if I can keep that dentist-clean feeling and I hope to keep those pesky coffee stains at bay.
