LittleEcoFootprint March Delivery

Little EcoFootprint

They say good things come in small packages, and while LittleEcoFootprint’s March delivery wasn’t exactly small, it was definitely a good thing.

The second ever delivery of eco-friendly, nontoxic mama and baby items was even better than the first in my opinion. This month’s box is filled with many useful items that are both practical and safe for me and my baby.

LittleEcoFootprint Box

There’s been a lot of buzz recently about LittleEcoFootprint and for good reason. Everyone (including me) seems really excited about the opportunity to have nontoxic, Eco-friendly items for mom and baby delivered right to their door.

The feedback I’m receiving shows a common theme that parents across the country like the idea of having the “work” done for them. Many of us want to make the move to implementing more environmentally friendly items into our homes but we don’t know where to begin.

Many like the idea of being able to test out the products before deciding if they are right for their family. And others love the fact that LittleEcoFootprint contributes to the chemical-free regimen they already have going on at home.

For whatever reason you’re excited about LittleEcoFootprint, you’re not alone. And here is one more reason to add to your list:

When you sign up for your LittleEcoFootprint membership* on or before February 10, 2013, you will get $5.00 off the first month’s fee. That means that instead of $25, your first month will cost $20.00.  Use coupon code LITTLEECO20.

And there’s one more reason (like you needed another) to join now; when you become a member before the launch, you will automatically become a founding member.

What does that mean?

Well, as a founding member, you will receive special gifts and rewards throughout your subscription with LittleEcoFootprint.

Each month’s delivery is tailored to the season and the age of your child but the rest is a surprise. Here are a few hints about what to expect in LittleEcoFootprint’s first ever delivery.

Introducing LittleEcoFootprint!

LittleEcoFootprint Logo

Excited. Thrilled. Honoured. Enthusiastic.

Those are some words that you could use to describe my feelings towards partnering with LittleEcoFootprint as a Mom Reviewer Expert.

I’m also really excited to share that I won’t be doing this on my own. My sister Lindsay (a.k.a. Village Mom) is expecting her first baby in mid-February and she’s coming on board with us as our City Mom Baby Consultant. Lindsay is going to be City Mom’s Mom Reviewer Expert when it comes to LittleEcoFootprint. So stay tuned to read her posts.

LittleEcoFootprint is a really cool concept created by two, really cool moms, Kristy and Lisa. They each have a son close in age. While participating in play dates and chatting about motherhood they soon discovered that they shared a passion for the health and safety of the products their boys use.

In their discussions they became increasingly concerned with perfumes, allergens and toxic chemicals that are often found in the products designed for babies and toddlers. They made it their mission to find and share quality and safe products with other like-minded moms.

LittleEcoFootprint Box

LittleEcoFootprint is all about moms helping moms find great, healthy and eco-friendly products for themselves, for baby and their family. As a member of LittleEcoFootprint you’ll receive a monthly box of hand selected goodies delivered right to your door (always free shipping). But it isn’t going to be your average box of items; Kristy and Lisa have given you their promise that they will never allow companies to pay for placement in the boxes. This guarantees that every product that is selected has been truly picked by real moms.

Each month’s box will contain eco-friendly, nontoxic and healthy items for your child. When you sign up for your membership, you get to indicate the age of your child, so each box you receive will be tailored to your particular needs. Even the season will be taken into consideration. It’s truly a personalized approach.

Sharing with the #LdnOnt Community – Seventh Gen’s Diaper Donation Program

Seventh Generation

Seventh Generation is aiming to reach their goal of giving away up to 240,000 diapers to 40 shelters in Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. And guess what, we’re a lucky recipient here in London.

That’s because I am part of the Seventh Generation Diaper Donation Program so I get to donate 160 Seventh Gen, chlorine-free diapers to the charity of my choice. And because I live in London, they’re going to a special place in our community.

Rotholme Women’s & Family Shelter has always held a special place in my heart. I feel as a woman and as a mom that it’s very important to have a place for emergency accommodation in times of crisis for women and families specifically. I’m proud that London houses a safe place like this.

RWFS is a 41-bed facility that primarily accommodates families (two parent and single parent families, both male and female lead). Single women who have no other shelter options may also reside at RWFS. The length of stay varies from one day to several weeks. Twenty-four hour emergency admission is provided for families and single women age 16 and over, and who:

  • are homeless and in need of temporary emergency accommodation
  • are in crisis and require emergency shelter and care

Caseworkers and a Child and Youth Worker provide crisis counseling and assist clients to re-enter the community. Clients are referred to community agencies where they get help to plan an appropriate support system. Support service for clients with mental health or concurrent disorders are available through referral to the Community Mental Health Programs.

Right now RWFS is extremely busy. Currently, and for the past few weeks, 80 clients have been calling this place home. That’s 39 residents over the number of beds they have available so they’ve had to borrow cots from the Men’s Mission and other places to meet their growing needs.

You see, recently Rotholme opened their doors to men. This helps to keep families together and allows single dads to make use of their facilities as well.

Me & Kristy, Front-Line Staff at Rotholme Women's & Family Shelter

Kristy, a front-line staff member at Rothholme, asked me to communicate the need for donations from the London community. Especially at busy times like they’re experiencing now.

Kristy also wanted me to sincerely thank the London community for donations received to date. She said that London has really stepped up to help out, especially at busy times like Christmas.

“The babies here [at Rotholme Women’s & Family Shelter] get more presents under the tree than most children in shelters,” said Kristy.

This made me happy to hear and even more proud to be a Londoner.

Seventh Generation Earth Mother

During the month of October, every package of Seventh Generation diapers that you buy anywhere in Canada will mean one package is donated to a women’s shelter in a community. That means one mother will be able to offer her child the same safe & effective, chlorine-free diapers that you’re able to offer yours.

That is the power of Mothers Helping Mothers, and with your help, Seventh Generation will donate up to 240,000 diapers across Canada during this month. To view a list of all the participating women’s shelters, click here.

And don’t forget to stop by the Canadian Seventh Generation site to sign up for great money-saving offers. Right now you can save $1.00 on any Seventh Generation product and/or $2.00 on any Seventh Generation laundry product.

You can print each coupon twice and the page is often updated with new offers.

I would like to thank Seventh Generation and Mom Central Canada for allowing me to part of this wonderful program. I have to say it was the greatest feeling sharing these diapers with men and women in need.
