Fighting Household Stains with OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover

OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover

Unfortunately stains are a part of life and no one individual or family is immune to them. It’s not about preventing the stains because let’s face it, that’s an impossible task; it’s about learning the best way to fight the stains that do happen.

I had an opportunity to try the OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover and I’m happy to share my experience. I should note that this opportunity was very timely.

We had just bought a new set of sheets for our bed. It was something we were putting off because honestly we could have found many other uses for the money we spent but we couldn’t deny the fact that we needed new sheets any longer.

After just a few nights spent in our new and luxurious linens they became “tainted”. It was over a rather silly reason too. I had suffered a small cut on my ankle from shaving my legs and as it was healing it became itchy. I must have been scratching at it in my sleep because when I awoke the next morning, I found a blood stain right where my feet were.

Needless to say, we were disappointed but it also gave me an excellent opportunity to put the OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover to work!

OxiClean™ is a powdered stain fighter that is activated when added to water (warm or hot water work best). Oxygen is released and targets the stains, rather than the fabric, removing stains on many water-washable household items and surfaces.

All OxiClean™ products contain specialized stain removers (oxygen, surfactants and polymers) that remove stains and prevent them from re-depositing onto your laundry so they can be washed away.

The OxiClean team helped me to determine that blood is considered a “protein stain” and there is a specific method to treating these types of stains. I followed the recommendations as demonstrated in the video below:

  • Step One: I mixed a small scoop of OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover with room-temperature water and applied it to the stain to let it soak. After just a few seconds I could see it starting to work.
  • Step Two: I let it soak for about one hour.
  • Step Three: I spent a few seconds giving the stain a little scrub then I added it to a hot water wash with an additional scoop of the OxiCleanVersatile Stain Remover.
  • Step Four: After the wash, I dried the sheets as usual and then put the sheets back on and to my delight the stain was gone!
