Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol – An IMAX Experience {Ticket Giveaway}

Did you know that the Cineplex IMAX® Theatre Experience has arrived in London? The first movie experience of its kind debuted at the SilverCity London theatres on December 16, 2011.

The first feature showing in the IMAX theatre in London is Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol starring Tom Cruise. My husband and I got to go see this movie and encounter the IMAX experience.

The IMAX® Technology uses the largest commercial film format in motion picture history to create images of incredible sharpness. IMAX® and IMAX® 3D giant flat screens can soar up to eight stories high and the sound system is composed of 44 custom designed speakers that extract 12,000 watts of pure digital surround sound.

And wow! I can attest to those 12,000 watts. The sound is so crisp that at one point I actually looked around when I heard a particular noise that I thought was coming from behind me. It was actually the amazing surround sound capabilities from the movie that caused me to interpret the sound coming from around me.

The IMAX theatre at SilverCity London Cinemas has been designed for use in a multiplex setting. To maximize the field of view in the modified auditorium, the screen was replaced with a larger, slightly curved and specially treated IMAX screen positioned closer to the audience.

And the screen is awesome! It stands wall to wall and floor to ceiling with a curved effect that allows the viewer to feel like they’re inside the story. To add to the life-like viewing experience, the seats in the theatre are enhanced as well to allow the occupant to recline backwards to take it all in. This is something you have to experience yourself as a written description just can’t do it justice.

Right now at SilverCity London IMAX you can catch the following movies:

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and IMAX Experience® and The Adventures of Tintin: An IMAX 3D Experience®

I do recommend Mission Impossible. It was heart-thumping, fist-clenching, comedic and engaging. It’s rated PG for violence and I agree with this rating. I don’t recall any swear words or inappropriate nudity or sex scenes and I did notice children in the theatre. Perhaps aged 8+ but I’ll let you be the judge of that one.

Today on City Mom you can enter to win two tickets to see the movie of your choice with the IMAX Experience® at any theatre in Canada featuring the IMAX Experience®. Three winners will be chosen from the entries made with the Rafflecopter widget below.

Tickets are valid for two entries to one Cineplex Special Event (IMAX Experience) and expire on December 31, 2012.
